Drop a pair campaign goes to Florida Running Club

Bring your old running shoes tonight

The Drop A Pair and Show You Care Campaign has kicked off recently, and is going extremely well, with 22 pairs of shoes having been donated thus far.

Adielah Johnson, the runner-up of the Get It Face of the Spar Women’s Race competition, is on a mission to collect 500 pairs of running shoes to donate to underprivileged runners.

She is also a member of the Florida Running Club where she is receiving a lot of support for this campaign. “We do time trials every Tuesday night, and when I arrived at the club last week, they surprised me with a wonderful gift of 16 pairs of good running shoes. Two pairs are still in boxes and practically new!” she said excitedly.

Adielah is urging all club members, as well as members from the community who would like to be part of this initiative, to join them at tonight’s (11 September) time trials at the club on Jan Hofmeyr Avenue in Florida, where there will be a donation box available.

“We will be there from about 5.30pm. People can donate their unwanted running shoes that are still in good condition, which we will then donate to those who need it most,” she said.

Shoes can also be dropped off at the Caxton office, on the corner of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street, Witpoortjie.
