The ‘Drop a pair’ campaign gets off on the right foot
Florida Running Club donated 16 pairs of shoes
The ‘Drop a pair and show you care’ campaign has kicked off, and Adielah Johnson, the Get It SPAR Women’s Challenge Joburg Face of the Race 2018, is very excited about the first donations made.
Members of the Florida Running Club, of which Adielah is a member, heard about her initiative to collect 500 pairs of running shoes to donate to underprivileged runners, and decided to give her campaign a bit of a boost.
“We do time trials every Tuesday night, and when I arrived at the club they surprised me with a wonderful gift of 16 pairs of good running shoes. Two pairs are still in boxes and practically new!” she said excitedly.
Adielah added that she was very grateful to the Florida members and issued a challenge to other running clubs in the Roodepoort area to also join in and support the campaign.
Shoes can also be dropped off at the Caxton office, on the corner of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street, Witpoortjie.
