The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) Gauteng, is one of the many organisations benefiting from Casual Day, and they need the community’s help.
Robert Scott, from the MDF Gauteng, said, “Casual Day is one of the fundraising events we participate in every year, in order to raise money for our cause. The stickers cost R10 each, and, if you order your stickers from us, our organisation receives R4 per sticker. This helps us to assist members with wheelchair repairs and replacement of batteries. This month, we have assisted a boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy with a headrest and two other members with wheelchair repairs and batteries.”
Casual Day, which takes place on 7 September, has been a steady favourite on the calendar of many South African businesses, with approximately 4 500 companies, 100 schools and 400 organisations rendering services to persons with disabilities participating.
This year’s theme is ‘Be an everyday hero for people with disabilities’ and achieving this is easy. All you have to do is get your Casual Day sticker and encourage as many people as you can to get theirs as well, all for a donation of only R10!
Be part of the team by telling everybody you know about Casual Day, by encouraging them to support Casual Day and by helping them understand why persons with disabilities deserve equity alongside all other South Africans, because Casual Day is as much about raising awareness as it is about raising money.
A portion of all the money raised through the sales of Casual Day stickers is distributed between the 14 national beneficiary organisations that form part of the partnership, which are as follows:

• National Association for Persons with Cerebral Palsy

• South African Disability Alliance
