Roodepoort police detectives awarded for excellent work
Sergeant Eric Molupe was the star on the day
The Roodepoort Police station commander, Brigadier Sam Manala, boosted the morale of five detectives during an early morning parade recently.
The detectives received certificates commending them on their excellent investigative skills, which led to the successful conviction of the perpetrators involved in cases varying from attempted murder and theft, to fraud and robberies.

The star of the morning was Sergeant Eric Molupe, who received five certificates, to the loud cheering of his colleagues. The certificates were for the following cases: • a six-year prison sentence for unlawful possession of a firearm
• a 10-year prison sentence for armed robbery
• a 21-year prison sentence for robbery with aggravating circumstances, housebreaking with the intent to steal, and theft and trespassing
• a five-year prison sentence for attempted murder
• a seven-year prison sentence for attempted robbery (hijacking)
The other detectives who received certificates were:
• Sergeant Godfrey Shilaluke (15-year prison sentence for murder)
• Constable Ntanganedzeni Dzebe (10-year prison sentence for attempted rape)
• Sergeant Sarah Mtileni (25-year prison sentence for house robbery)
• Sergeant Nthabiseng Sapele (six-year prison sentence for fraud)
“I am very proud of these members for the excellent work done. These are the members we need to help us remove the criminals from society. And, these certificates are also a good way to motivate them to not only investigate to have a case closed as unsolved, but to investigate to achieve a conviction,” Manala concluded.
