MMC Nonhlanhla Sifumba to visit the Roodepoort swimming pool
Sifumba will monitor the state of swimming pools
The Member of the Mayoral Committee, councillor Nonhlanhla Sifumba will be visiting the Roodepoort swimming pool and Roodepoort Library today.
As the City of Joburg welcomes spring, swimming pools will offer programmes that range from recreation to competitive excellence. Sifumba will monitor the state of swimming pools in preparation for the opening of the City of Joburg’s swimming season on 1 September.
She urged residents to consider safety measures such as, no diving, no pushing, no running and no glass in the pool or deck area.
The oversight visit will also cover recreation centres and libraries. Among those will be the Roodepoort Library, a heritage building. The revamping of this library was quite exciting with glitches there and there which the heritage architect sorted out by retrieving and restoring art items according to heritage rules.
Impressive murals were added on a wall. As you enter the library you are greeted by Nelson Mandela’s words: “As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
Sifumba will be at the Roodepoort Swimming pool at 10.35am and will go to the Roodepoort Library after her inspection.
