More than 800 people gathered at the Roodepoort Theatre on 21 July in celebration of Mandela Day.
The aim was to bring joy, happiness and laughter to less fortunate children by hosting a fun-filled day.

There were all sorts of entertainment such as jumping castles, face painting, a movie in the auditorium, and song and dance on the stage.
Stages Restaurant spoiled the children with treats such as sausage rolls, ice cream, sweets, snacks and milkshakes.
The theatre’s state-of-the-art entertainment truck was fully equipped with a stage, functional dressing rooms, a powerful PA and sound system, and it showcased a lot of local talent.
“Roodepoort Theatre is committed to the community and the less privileged. That is why we are passing the torch of public service to everyone. It is in our hands to make our world a better place for all,” Roodepoort Theatre General Manager, Pritheven Pillay said.
The Department of Health in Region C conducted voluntarily blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and HIV/ Aids screenings.
The departments that partnered to make the event possible included the South African National Blood Service, Johannesburg Metro Police, Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department.
