Resident must allow City Officials access to their properties to read or repair meters
How to identify City Power meter readers?
The City of Johannesburg has discovered that there are residents who do not allow City officials access to their properties do meter readings.
This may be because of the high number of house-breaking incidents, however, it results in the City not being able to bill those residents on actual readings and having to use estimates instead. In terms of the City’s by-laws, the City is entitled to disconnect the supply of electricity when residents fail to allow officials access to their premises for the purpose of reading the meter or fixing a faulty meter.
