Horison school learners accepted challenge
'To move forward, you have to give back'
Teachers at Archers College in Horison were not expecting the overwhelming response to a challenge issued to their learners.
“At our weekly assembly, we announced that our winter challenge was to collect clothes and toys to donate to the Munsieville community. We challenged the learners to bring as many goods as possible, within a two-week time-frame, and oh boy, did they rise to the occasion!

We are a small school, but the response was overwhelming,” said Bridget Cato, one of the school’s teachers.
She added that the initiative was put forward by Katie Milner, a Grade 4 teacher at the school and said, “We felt that it was necessary to instill a sense of giving, rather than receiving. At Archers College, we aspire to teach the learners that if you want to move forward, you need to give back.”
The toys and clothes were handed over to the community on 8 July, and Bridget said, “I believe that we left the Munsieville community feeling grateful, and we felt honoured to have been able to assist in helping those less fortunate.”
