Totalsports announces 2018 Women’s Race prize purse

The prize purse will exceed R100 000 this year, with each category's podium placers getting a prize.

Totalsports finally announced what the prize purse for this year’s Women’s Race will be, adding to the incentive to take part in the race.

The 2018 Totalsports Women’s Race (Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town) will boast an impressive combined prize purse of R123 600. “We are excited to be able to offer an incentive to the more serious runners that would like to challenge themselves and possibly better their personal best finishing times,” said Agne du Plessis, Stillwater Sports’ General Manager of Road Running and Athletics. “In 2018 each event will feature a prize purse to the value of R 41 200.”

She continued by saying that the prize money will be allocated to the top eight finishers in the Open Category, with the winner taking home a whopping R10 000. The top eight runners in the Junior Category have also been allocated a share of the prize purse.

“We’ve also ensured that the top three finishers in the age categories 40–49, 50–59, 60–69 and 70+ will not go home empty-handed.”
