Milestones crushed at Roodepoort parkrun

Seven runners completed milestone runs

Not even the chilly winter air could deter the 663 eager runners from completing their five kilometre course at the recent Roodepoort parkrun.

During this event quite a few milestones were reached, with Koos Richards, Tatenda Mtetwa, Louisa Sygo, Sonia Richards and Annamarie Sutton completing their 50th run, while George Ormond and Joan Erasmus completed their 100th.

The first male runner to cross the finish line was Pieter Cilliers from the Roodepoort Athletics club, who managed to finish his two laps in 19 minutes 32 seconds. The first woman to cross the finish line was Maryna Bijker in a time of 25 minutes 21 seconds – a new personal best for her.

Louisa Sygo (middle) was one of five runners who completed her 50th parkrun.

The Roodepoort parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 8am at the Len Rutter Park in Florida.
