Lindhaven stands against crime

"We cannot sit back and fold our arms and watch these thugs kill our families. If the police cannot do their job, we will do it for them," said Lindhaven resident Peter Mosianne.

Residents of Lindhaven and other areas came out in their numbers to join the clean-up day held during the past weekend. The Lindhaven Neighborhood Executive Committee organised the very successful day, which was joined by residents from the Princess informal settlement and the Ward 85 councillor, Sonja Meyer. Members of the different political parties put their differences aside and gathered together as one with the purpose of cleaning up their neighbourhood.

“Today shows that we are moving towards a cleaner and safer community,” Sonja said.

The committee also addressed the community about the crime issues in Lindhaven. “Since crime is a big concern, the Neighbourhood Committee is doing what it can to assist. In just one day, three to four break-ins can be reported. What’s frustrating us the most is that there is no police visibility in this area,” said the chairperson of the Lindhaven Neighbourhood Executive Committee, Johannes Lehutso.
