The body of an unknown man was found by officers from the Florida Police Station this morning.
According to Captain Lydia Dikholomela, the police received a tip-off yesterday about a body that was lying partially immersed in a dam in Stormill.
“The police could not reach the area on foot yesterday, because it was extremely muddy and inaccessible. They thus requested the police helicopter to come out.
They managed to pick the body up this morning and transported it to the corner of Turbine and Main Reef Roads,” Dikholomela said.

She added that the deceased, a coloured male, is 25 to 35 years old and was wrapped in a brown plastic bag. “His upper body, arms and legs had been severely beaten or stoned. The man was dressed in a blue T-shirt and a black jersey, but had no trousers on. He has short hair and a slender build.”
Dikholomela said the police suspect the man was killed and then dumped at the dam in Stormill. “The body has not decomposed as yet. We suspect he might have been killed about two or three days ago. We have not identified him, but the body has been moved to the Roodepoort State Mortuary.”
The police are investigating a murder case.
