Chatroom continues to share wisdom
The chatroom meeting is held monthly at Westview Clinic in Florida to discuss cancer-related issues.
The Rainbow Samaritans met again on 9 June, in their chatroom venue at Westview Clinic in Florida to discuss cancer-related issues.
A member of the association who was the speaker at the meeting, Zac Grobler, used information from various philosophers containing jewels of wisdom to motivate the cancer patients, encouraging to them to try and live normal lives. “I shared that we mustn’t fall into the doom and gloom of cancer. Instead, we must get over all the sorrows and feed our minds with positivity,” he said.
A founding member of the association, Chrissie ton Krooden, weighed in about the importance of joining the chatroom. “The chatroom was started to help people because there are no support groups, and people could not interact with anyone, not even their family members and friends because nobody understood what they were going through.”
“We started this group so that [you] can be yourself, feel and reach out to others. Our slogan is ‘Sharing is carrying and carrying is sharing’.
The chatroom is where everyone can chat, ask questions and express how they feel,” Chrissie explained, adding that they also make use of a Whatsapp group to communicate so that members never feel alone.
She extended an invitation to all other cancer survivors to join their meetings.
