New kit for IPT introduced by cricket club

The Wolves and Foxes cricket players are expected to shine at the upcoming Interprovincial tournament (IPT) happening later this month after receiving their new vibrant kit.

The official capping ceremony happened at the Hillfox Action Sports Centre on 10 June in front of parents and club supporters.

The mood was overwhelming as the official capping was done by Quinton de Kock, the Proteas’ and Titans’ cricketer, who was without a doubt the parents’ and kiddies’ favourite.

Karel Clark, the team manager and club coordinator, spoke about the reasons for changing the kit for the club. “We decided to make a change this year because we’ve had the same kit over the years. Action cricket is a bit of a spunky sport so we decided to give the kids that little bit of extra motivation with a vibrant, colourful kit,” he said.

Clark referred to Quinton’s involvement, saying, “We actually thought it would be a nice thing to do for the boys – boost their spirits a little bit – bringing in a celebrity would actually make a difference,” he explained.

Bringing in Quinton surely made a difference as parents and players queued for photos and autographs.

“It is important that people who represent the Proteas come out and do things like this as it obviously inspires the kids.

This also goes to show that we care about them and the future of cricket in the country,” said Quinton after keeping a smile on his face for the photographers and signing autographs at the end of the event.

The IPT will take place in Sandton from 23 June to 1 July (actual dates depend on divisions). Clark said the club is ready to compete and with the new kit, good results are expected.
