Friends and family desperately pleading to help save woman’s life
Poppie Gage's condition has weakened to the point that she cannot undergo a lung transplant.
The friends and family of 47-year-old Poppie Gage are desperate to raise money in order to pay for her ever-growing medical bills.
While in Helen Joseph Hospital last year with a bout of pneumonia, she contracted a lung infection. Her health rapidly deteriorated, to the extent that she has lost the use of one lung and only has the use of half of the other. She is also too weak to have a lung transplant and is permanently on oxygen.

On Monday night, she had to be rushed to Life Flora Hospital, which demanded that R65 000 be put down immediately before admitting her to ICU. Friends and family scrambled to raise the money, as Gage does not have a medical aid. There is once again no more money to pay her bills, and they are pleading with the public to assist.
