Florida Vet hosts spay day

Staff sacrificed their Saturday to do their community service.

This past Saturday (26 May) the staff of Florida Veterinary Hospital opened their hearts and facilities to help animals in need.

They, along with volunteers, willingly and freely gave of their time to make this initiative in conjunction with Savsa (South African Veterinary Association) and PAIN (Pets and Animals in Need) a huge success.

After weeks of planning and promoting, the patients started arriving bright and early ready for their procedures. Teams of doctors, nurses, kennel assistants, reception staff and even grooming ladies and the tea lady were ready and waiting to admit, pre-med and prepare all the animals.

“It was slightly chaotic but by 8am our first patients were on the operating table. By noon all 31 dogs and cats had been operated on and were recovered enough to be reunited with their grateful owners,” said Tracy Topper, practice manager.
