City Power has successfully restored power

City Power would like to thank all the affected residents for being so patient

City Power has successfully restored power to the whole of Roodepoort.

On Friday, 13 April, a 33 KV cable which links two substations was stolen, causing major damage on several transformers at the Sentraal substation. The damage, together with the stolen cable, resulted in a power interruption affecting several suburbs in Roodepoort.

It took City Power about five days to fix the problem, leaving residents stuck in a blackout situation.

City Power would like to thank all the affected residents for being patient with them while they were working on the problem.

“We have now restored electricity to all suburbs in the area, but we still urge customers to continue to save electricity by switching off all their non-essential appliances,” said City Power spokesperson, Sol Masolo.

Those without power should log a call on https://citypower.mobi or by calling 011 375 5555.
