Fundraiser for Team Rage’s future stars

Eight fighters selected to compete at South African Championships

Eight fighters from the Team Rage Kickboxing Club have been selected as part of the Central Gauteng team that will be participating in the South African Kickboxing Championships.

The fighters who will be competing at the championships are:

• Bianca Botha

• Charné Botha

• Brandon-Lee Friedlander

• Clarise Luijk

• Dyllan Opperman

• Cole Langa

• Ryan Boshoff

• Mina Lombaard

In an effort to enable these fighters to compete, the club held a fundraising event, in the form of a demonstration, at the Witpoortjie Pick ‘n Pay. The fighters showcased their skills by demonstrating some kickboxing techniques as well as some sparring sessions.

They also had some collection tins, and the community members opened their hearts – and wallets – to contribute. “It was day filled with fun and laughter, although a bit hot, which limited everyone’s time spent on the mat,” said Darrin Opperman, coach at the club.

The championship will be taking place in Pretoria at the end of April and Darrin said, “We are very proud of our selected fighters and believe that each one of them will excel and bring home a medal or two. This is a very strong team.”

He concluded by thanking the community for all their generous support as well as Pick ‘n Pay Witpoortjie and Zotos International Development Pty Ltd for the use of their premises.
