Declan sets the stage on fire

Many members of the public came together to watch the youth showcase and heat up the stage

Music category winner Declan Ludick was crowned as Top Performer of the day at the Arts and Culture Festival which took place at the Witpoortjie Community Centre on 17 February.

With the purpose of discovering and celebrating amazing young local talent, Ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin, and the Gauteng Department of Arts and Culture held an Arts and Culture Festival.

The day was a great success as many members of the public came together to watch the youth showcase and heat up the stage. There were four categories in the Festival, namely music, drama, poetry and dance.

According to René, there was an array of talent on display but it was the dynamic solo guitar act by 14-year-old Declan Ludick which stole the show, and won the first place spot in the Festival.

Declan, along with other category winners, will be competing in the Gauteng Regional finals on 30 June 2018.

“For those who missed this one, we will certainly be partnering up again next year for the second festival,” said René.
