Kim makes it the finalist stage of Mrs Commonwealth South African pageant

The grand finale will be taking place in the spectacular Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on 12 October.

Kim van Wyk, a pastor at the Living Faith Centre in Roodepoort West, is in the running for the title of Mrs Commonwealth South Africa 2018.

Kim believes this platform will create opportunities for her church’s vision to be heard and established. The heart of the vision is to eradicate poverty and establish schools, FET colleges and much more which will empower, educate and liberate their community from the bondage of poverty.

She is also the director of four businesses, which she and her husband have developed as a bridge to create jobs for their unemployed and uneducated congregation and the community.

The Mrs Commonwealth SA pageant is more than just a women empowerment programme, it is also an empowerment movement that launched its ‘Commonwealth Women Unite’ campaign in February this year. The pageant creates a platform to inspire, mentor and support women in South Africa.

“The Mrs Commonwealth SA pageant stands out because it is focused on bringing wealth to the community as well as allowing each finalist to be part of an inspiring and exciting journey to be crowned.

These finalist are extraordinary women, whom we have selectively chosen because we believe they already encompass the purpose of the pageant. Past winners have competed in Mrs Universe, International Ms and Mrs Classic Universe competitions,” Kim said.

The Breast Cancer initiative, PinkDrive is the official charity for the 2018 pageant. During the 2017 pageant, the contestants raised R320 000 for PinkDrive. “The difference the PinkDrive has made in our country is priceless, therefore Mrs Commonwealth SA will support this NPO 100 per cent and will continue to do so throughout this year,” Kim said.

The grand finale will be taking place in the spectacular Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on 12 October.
