Durban Deep Primary School finally gets water
Parents and members of the community were very angry about the situation and took matters into their own hands.
Joburg Water has now installed water meters at Durban Deep Primary School and learners are urged to go back to school.
The school operated for years with an inadequate supply of water. This led to school learners falling ill from drinking contaminated water. The school was then shut down by the Department of Education until a better solution for water at the school was found.

Parents and members of the community were very angry about the situation, took matters into their own hands and started protesting. The Department of Environment and Infrastructure Services then saw a need to fast-track the application in record time for the school to get water meters.
Joburg Water has now installed water meters in the school yard and the school finally has proper running water facilities.
