ICE CPF celebrates five years of success
Community urged to attend fundraising event
The ICE Community Policing unit is inviting community members to attend their Family Fun Day to celebrate their five years of success.
The event, which will be taking place on 10 March at The Park on Maud Street, between 7th Avenue and Fredora Streets, Florida, from 9am, will also double as a fundraising event to help furnish ICE patrollers with vital equipment. “This event will also help create awareness for our ongoing fight against crime, and the money raised will help ease the pockets of our patrollers, who selflessly use their own vehicles and fuel during patrols,” said Aadil Davis, ICE Chairperson.
The patrollers operate in Florida, Florida Lake, Hamberg, Georginia South and Cresswell Park, and since they started in 2013, the crime rate in these areas has dropped dramatically. “The driving force behind our success has always been the ‘unity’ in community, and the slogan ‘For the Community, by the Community’ forms the basis of our commitment to protect the community from all elements, despite the long, odd hours and putting our lives at risk,” he added.
The Fun Day promises something for everyone, and there will be stalls where you can sell your products, or promote your home-based businesses available for hire on the day.
To book your stall or for any enquiries with regard to the event, send a WhatsApp message to any of these numbers – 083 588 9602, 076 323 2422 or 083 214 4385.
For any other matters relating to ICE Community Policing or if you’d like to find out how you can become part of the family, kindly contact Aadil on 076 280 5505.
“We humbly request that all residents from the areas mentioned above, as well as the broader Roodepoort community, come out and support us in our initiatives to combat crime in our areas. Come and enjoy the day with us. Hope to see you all there!” Aadil concluded.
