Florida tots learn about veggies
Treehouse learners had a blast on Farmer Day
The youngsters at Treehouse Kindergarten had a fun day learning more about vegetables and where they really come from.
The learners spent a whole week talking about the importance of water conservation, being encouraged to eat healthy and learning about the connection between nature and our survival.

“Farmer Day was the culmination of a week of focusing on nature conservation, and the children not only had the opportunity to dress up as farmers, but they planted their own vegetables too,” said Sharn Anne Mitchell from the school.

She added that the day’s focus was on nature conservation, teaching the children the importance of using water sparingly as well as building on their understanding of the connections between nature and food.

“We had great fun planting veggies and flowers, and the learners were very surprised to learn that vegetables came from farms rather than shops!” she said, smiling.
The school is also busy collecting plastic containers, which they will donate to the Owl Rescue Centre. “The centre will recycle the used containers and build owl houses,” Sharn Anne said.

She concluded by thanking the families who sent seeds and seedlings, and made the effort to ensure the children were dressed according to the day’s theme.
