One can learn a thing or two from Benjamin and his wife Anna, who have been married for 66 years.
Modern relationships are not the same as those our parents and grandparents had. Times have changed and that has confused people as to what and how relationships should be. Women have become the men in relationships and men have become women. Parents now allow their children to boss them around and be told what to do. Nowadays children don’t bury their parent but parents bury their children.

Benjamin Strachan married his wife, Anna, on 2 February 1952 and they have been happily married since. He said the secret to making your marriage last is involving God in your relationship. In everything you do, ask God for guidance. Benjamin said there is no rosy marriage, challenges will come but if you let God intercede you will be able to conquer your challenges.
“After I married her, I prayed and asked the Lord that my two eyes only look at my wife and no other woman and that’s how it’s been. When I said “I do” I meant every word,” said Benjamin.
“We met at church – my late sister introduced him to me and the rest is history. When he married me I was 19 years old and he was 28. He was working for the police force and earning peanuts, but with the little that he had he was able to provide for the family and we were happy. I am a housewife, I took care of the kids. We had 4 children, but one passed away when he was one month and two days old. We also have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,” said Anna.

Benjamin said he would like to advise young couples not to make selfish decisions when they are in a relationship – they should always consider their spouses too, and always remember that communication is the golden key in a relationship.
