You don’t have to skip work to go to the clinic

Longer hours, shorter queues in public clinics.

More clinics within the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) are set to expand their operating hours.

The City is pleased to announce that, from 1 February, 11 more clinics will be extending their operating hours. The clinics that will be extending their hours in Roodepoort are:

Rex Street and Bophelong Clinics – Weekdays 7am to 4pm, and Saturdays 7.30am to 1.30 pm.

Zandspruit and Princess Clinics – Weekdays 7am to 10pm, and Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays 7.30am to 1.30pm.

This initiative was launched last year by City of Johannesburg Mayor, Herman Mashaba, with the purpose of enabling public to get more integrated service delivery in Primary Health Care facilities.

According to the Mayor, Princess Clinic and Freedom Park Clinic, which are operating until 10 pm on week days, have seen over 30 per cent more patients in the six months from July to December last year and the number of patients who visit the clinics during weekends and on public holidays is increasing steadily.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development, councillor Mpho Phalatse, said, “I am excited about the continued rollout of the extended hours of service and agree that access to healthcare is a basic human right that residents are entitled to. Many of the City’s residents, who often had to choose between going to work or attending to their healthcare needs, now have a viable option,” she added.

With the current extended hours, queues will be shorter and the community will get better service.
