Residents have been scammed multiple times this morning at same ATM

Numerous reports of incidents at the same ATM.

A resident, Nicolette Olivier, was scammed at an ATM this morning and would like to warn other residents of the hazard.

She was using the FNB ATM at the Engen Garage at Princess Crossing when the incident happened. Her card was phished and the culprit withdrew R2 000 from her account.

When she phoned FNB to cancel her card, they informed her they had received multiple calls since 6am this morning, reporting more incidents at the same ATM.

Phishing is defined as a criminal activity during which perpetrators glean bank account numbers and personal identification numbers (PINs) through phishing attacks and keystroke logging technology. They then create fake bank cards and use them to steal money and make purchases.
