National Opposite Day

Do the opposite of what you mean on #NationalOppositeDay

Although there are a few contradictory dates on which National Opposite Day is celebrated, most sources say it is on 25 January.

Today is the perfect opportunity to have fun all day long by saying exactly the opposite of what you really mean. Is it good morning or good night? Hello or goodbye? Am I hot or am I cold?

This day has kids everywhere rejoicing, and it’s also a great day for adults to play along and even consider having dinner for breakfast or breakfast for dinner!

The origin of this day is unknown, however there are references made to it that date back to president Calvin Coolidge in the 1920s. During the 1928 election, Coolidge made a statement to the press, announcing, “I do not choose to run.” This statement spurred a debate and left everyone wondering if he really meant the opposite.

To celebrate today is really easy: just do and say the opposite of what you mean! You can also go to

and allow Spongebob Squarepants to help you celebrate.
