Motorcyclists are urged to exercise extra care after the recent heavy rains

Problem not confined to Witpoortjie.

On Trezona Avenue, on the border of Witpoortjie and Krugersdorp, potholes akin to little craters have reared their ugly heads again. The problem is not however confined to that area, as rain has damaged numerous roads in Roodepoort.

Witpoortjie has a large biker community and one rider, Pikkie Visser has photographed his motorcycle next to these potholes and pointedly expressed his concern not only for motorists but even more so for motorcycle riders.

“In your motor vehicle you might suffer a flat tyre or a bent rim but on a motorcycle you might lose your life or seriously injure yourself if you hit one of these potholes,” Visser wrote on Facebook.

Many residents commented on Visser’s post and expressed their dismay at the Johannesburg Road Agency’s (JRA) lacklustre attitude towards the problem.
