I know it might be a little early for some, but I would like to wish some of our readers a Merry Christmas.
I know of a few people who are lucky enough to be able leave on holiday now that the schools are closed, and this message is especially for them.
It’s been a long year with a lot of heartache, happiness, frustration and joy, but we made it through the year. I looked through my Facebook page and saw stories we did that are already a year old, yet, it feels as if we published them not so long ago.
It’s crazy how the time just flashed by.
So much has happened this year – Mugabe got the boot (’bout time), we’ve lost loved ones from the community (please keep them in your thoughts), made some friends and made a few enemies (the Record definitely did), South Africa was declared junk status (was that really this year?) and Joburg West got another newspaper.
It certainly was a jam-packed year.
With only two more editions to go, our aim remains the same, to keep you updated with the latest news (at least, we are going to try). Trusted journalist Riaan van Zyl will be on duty during the Christmas season for breaking news stories
For those travelling, please stay safe, make sure your animals are taken care of while you are away, make sure your house is secure and that your car is in perfect working order. While on holiday, remain vigilant. I heard some criminals like to do home shopping, while other also go on holiday. Apparently holiday-goers are easy targets because they are more relaxed.
The last thing we want to do is write about residents who got hurt in some way. As the age-old saying goes, ‘rather safe than sorry’.
As for me, I’m planning to visit my parents in Nelspruit, meet up with friends I haven’t seen in the past year, and generally just chill.
For those who still have to slave away at their computers, we will chat again next week.
Take care of one another.
Ciao
