Hard work pays off for dancers

Dance studio had a great year

The dancers from Ludik’s Acro Dance Studio (Lads) have shown that hard work pays off, when they racked up achievements this year.

Nine dancers participated in the national round of Talent Africa in April this year where they won four gold, four silver and one bronze medal. In addition, all of them qualified to represent South African at Talent America.

During the Raca Eisteddfod in September, their 20 dancers obtained eight Diamond (95 per cent and higher), eight Platinum ( 90–94 per cent) and four Gold (85–89 per cent) awards. All the dancers qualified for their Provincial colours, and will be participating in the South African Championships of Performing Arts next year.

During the Loschali Festival in Middelburg, the Lads dancers achieved the following:

– They bagged 25 first places

– All seven groups won their sections

– Cherene van Tonder was the Junior Championships Winner

– Juané Grobler was named the Contortionist of the Festival

– Rapelang Diseko was named the Most Promising Novice

– Katelyn Rose was the Amateur All-round Winner

– The group – Dragon – was the Best Choreographed Group

– Shay Parkins and Serena Elliot won their solos and will advance to the next level in 2018

– Rapelang Diseko, Zihandri Lange and Kelly Nel obtained second place for their solos and will also advance to the next level in 2018

During the Artistic Acrobatic Association of South Africa (IAAASA) Festival (the nationals) in October, only 18 dance items were entered, and the Lads dancers won 14 of them. They also won the award for the Best Choreographed Group (Dragon) for the second year running.

“We are so proud of the dancers and very thankful for the support they received, but most of all, they are grateful to God, for giving them their talents,” the coaches said.
