Video: Meteor over Roodekrans caught on camera
Yet another meteor was spotted last night by residents
A resident and his wife who wanted to assist their neighbour in Vuurlelie Street after his dog was poisoned, made an interesting discovery when viewing their CCTV footage.

In the sky above Roodekrans, those who were lucky enough saw a meteor shooting through the night sky at about 9pm last night (5 November).

According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) website, meteoroids are formed when asteroids collide and break off into smaller pieces. “If a meteoroid comes close enough to Earth and enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it vaporises and turns into a meteor: a beautiful streak of light in the sky.

Because of their appearance, some people call these streaks of light “shooting stars.” But scientists know that meteors are not stars at all – they are just bits of rock.”
