The incident took place on 22 October at about 1.36am. Tyrone was walking home on Northumberland Road, near its intersection with Honeydew Road West, close to Stepping Stones Garden Village, in the direction of Northgate Shopping Centre when he was hit by a vehicle which sped off. Lee-Anne said due to an event at the Ticket-Pro Dome, a lot of vehicles were on the road travelling away from the shopping centre. However, her brother was walking towards the shopping centre when the accident occurred.
