Maragon hockey boys lead the pack
Hockey team proves to be the best
It has been a successful season for the Maragon Ruimsig boys’ U/13 first team hockey. They won their league convincingly, not conceding any goals in the six games played. However, before being declared the league winners, they had to play again against the second and third ranked teams in the league.
Maragon then played the winners of the English schools league and won the game 2–0 on grass, making them the D12 District winners.
They represented D12 at the Best of the Best playoff at St Stithians on 17 September. The winner of the competition will travel to Potchefstroom for the Champ of Champs Tournament. Maragon played the second game of the day, drawing against Bryandale 0–0. After a game gap, the team beat Hoërskool Monument 1–0, then went on to claim a 9–0 victory over Laerskool Suikerbos. Maragon then played their fourth game against Cliffview Primary School, losing 2–0 then went off to play in their final game against Emfuleni Park Primary School, losing 1–0. This saw the team finishing in third position overall in the tournament.
