Two neighbourhoods rocked by shootings

The reason for the shooting is unclear at this stage.

Residents in both Wilro Park and Poortview were alarmed last night (10 September) after they heard shots fired.

According to one resident, who has a neighbourhood watch radio, a call came through at about 9.30pm from a resident in Lawrence Street asking for help to be sent as her husband had been shot. One suspect, who jumped the palisade fence of King’s School, was allegedly arrested after he injured his leg on the palisade. A manhunt was then launched late into the night to catch a second suspect but without success.

The second incident took place earlier in the evening. A resident said he was chatting to a neighbour in Gail Street in Wilro Park when three shots were fired in the veld bordering on Dee Dee Brown Drive and Kiepersol Street. A manhunt was also launched but no suspects were found. The reason for the shooting is unclear at this stage.
