National Make Your Bed Day

Improve your health by making your bed on #NationalMakeYourBedDay

11 September is National Make Your Bed Day, a day encouraging you to make a habit of ensuring your bed is made daily.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, making your bed daily will not only ensure you have a better night’s sleep, but it may also reduce your tossing, turning and restless sleeping, which – in turn – can be good for your health.

It is said that a comfortable and clean sleep environment is a sleep aid. According to a Behavioural Sleep Medicine Programme, that this important component of a good night’s sleep is largely ignored.

Here is why you should make your bed daily:

• Making your bed is a simple habit, and although 30 seconds can sound like a lot when you’re still snoozing, starting your day with a small accomplishment is worth the extra time.

• Leaving your bed messy can stunt your overall productivity.

• It’s one habit that can actually lead to other good habits.

• Making your bed can actually help with allergies.

• A tidy bed will make even a messy room seem cleaner and less cluttered.

• Making the bed reminds you that little things matter.

Celebrate today by ensuring your bed is made, and, if it is not a habit already, let today be the start of a new habit for you. This habit will not only make you feel and look good, but will also benefit your health! Teach your young children to make their beds every day to ensure this good habit is instilled early in their lives.
