Motorcycle rider seriously injured in accident
Ambulance took long to arrive due to other accidents.
A man in his late 40s or early 50s was seriously injured this morning when his motorcycle collided with a bakkie.
The incident happened at about 6.30am. The motorcyclist was travelling on Generaal Pienaar Avenue in the direction of Albertina Sisulu Road when a bakkie travelling on Gregor Street in the direction of Corlett Avenue turned in front of him.

According to Duncan de Koker from Roodepoort Accident Repair Centre (RARC), he and his colleague Ralph Watson were the first ones on the scene. He said the driver of the bakkie admitted to being at fault, allegedly saying he “did not see the motorcycle”. It took ER24 allegedly about 25 minutes to reach the accident scene due to the fact that its ambulances were attending to four other accidents in the area.

De Koker who, alongside Watson, took care of the man until the ambulance arrived, said it was clear that the rider was badly injured. It is believed he broke his leg.
