Guests treated to stories and singing

Women's Day celebrations with a difference

The Victory Christian Church (VCC) made sure that not only women, but also men, were spoiled on National Women’s Day with a morning filled with stories and song.

Esté Pienaar entertaining the audience with one of her anecdotes.

The approximately 140 guests had the opportunity to listen to Esté Pienaar and Henry van Dyk and were entertained by witty – and sometimes sad – stories from Esté’s life. These were complimented by Henry’s songs that touched everyone’s heart, leaving some of them with tears in their eyes.

According to Louise Schutte of VCC, they wanted to be different on National Women’s Day, and decided to not only invite women, but extend the invitation to everyone (men included). “We have guests from the whole community here to join in our morning’s activities, and I even sold some tickets this morning,” she said with a broad smile.

Henry van Dyk touched the heartstrings of every guest with his singing.

Carlo Lottering, the church’s pastor, thanked the visiting artists at the end of the show and invited all the guests to the church hall, where they were able to visit and enjoy the delicious treats.

“I believe this was a great success and a wonderful family day where everyone could relax and unwind to get rid of the everyday hustle and bustle.

It was inspiring to listen to Esté and Henry’s testimonies and just be able to relax and laugh. We would like to thank Esté and Henry for sharing their time and talents with us today,” he said.

He concluded by saying, with a big smile, “I attribute this morning’s success to the red jacket I wore to the event.”
