Roodepoort Rugby host bitter rivals
All the senior teams – from the U/19s and U/21s to the third, second and first team – took to the field and competed for bragging rights
Roodepoort Rugby Club took on one of their rivals, Randfontein Rugby Club, at Hoërskool Roodepoort this past weekend. All the senior teams – from the U/19s and U/21s to the third, second and first team – took to the field and competed for bragging rights.

The passionate fans behind both teams were an added incentive for the players to go all out. In the U/19 match, the home side lost 0– 9 while the U/21s battled it to a 21-all draw. The third team match was just as intense, keeping the crowd at the edges of their seats. However, the score line did not favour the home side as Roodepoort lost 5–20. The second team did not do well either as they lost 13–17 to Randfontein.

The most anticipated match of the day was the first teams taking on each other and it did not disappoint. During the match the pendulum swung both ways as both teams attacked with ferocity. At times the passion made the players see red and forget about discipline, but this did not spoil the match. It only fuelled the fire the crowd felt.
However, Randfontein came out on top as they beat Roodepoort 15–17.
