RLT will tickle your funny-bone
This one-acter was conceived and directed by Steph Nel.
Roodepoort Little Theatre (RLT) Productions is teaming up with the Franklin Players and the Edenvale Acting and Drama Society (Eads) to present not one, not two, but three original and exciting one-act plays.
To have your funny-bone tickled, a tear or two brought to your eye and, ultimately, the strings of your heart richly warmed, join us for Eads’ Midlife Rendezvous, a visual treat of mime and music that takes a unique look at the pleasures and pitfalls of dating for the over-forties. This one-acter was conceived and directed by Steph Nel.
Of course, the younger generation also has matters of the heart to contend with. Franklin Players’ For the Love of Cheesecake takes a humorous, but telling, look at the age-old question: “Is love worth it?” The play was written by Ashley Nader and is directed by Ashley, Mark Paps and Traci Scerri.
RLT’s One Last Time with Feeling! is not so much a play-within-a-play as a play about actors in a play. Set in the ‘star’ dressing room of a rundown theatre, it introduces us to the fears and foibles, tensions and traumas of an acting company shortly before curtain-up on the opening night of the show everyone hopes will make their fortunes but which seems destined to end in disaster. It was written by Graham Shirley and is directed by Ian ‘Red’ Herington.
Midlife Rendezvous and For the Love of Cheesecake were the recipients of numerous acting, directing, writing and technical awards at the recent Franklin Players One-Act Play Festival. One Last Time with Feeling was the runner-up to best script in the 2002 South African National Community Theatre Association’s New South African Playwriting Competition. After several highly acclaimed staged readings over the years, it is now making its long-overdue debut as a fully-fledged production.
All three plays will be presented at each of the following times:
Friday 21 July @ 7.30pm
Saturday 22 July @ 2.30pm and 7.30pm
