Westgate Management advises public after robbery

Westgate Shopping Centre responds to robbery

Westgate Shopping Centre’s marketing manager Gail Mashiane has warned shoppers not to draw large amounts of money. This comes after a man was robbed of R12 000 in cash after withdrawing R40 000 from a bank yesterday afternoon. He was followed to his vehicle by the suspects and a warning shot was fired before they demanded the money. The two suspects fled the scene in a white Mercedes Benz.

“We want to advise shoppers to make use of cash management companies or electronic transfers.

Westgate Shopping Centre would like to assure the public that the safety of our shoppers, tenants and all service providers is our top priority and that all necessary measures are in place to prevent situations like these from taking place,” said Mashiane.

Roodepoort Police members were on scene shortly after the incident, and are still investigating.
