The initial statement Notshe made to the police, in which he admitted to being on the murder scene, came under scrutiny. Notshe has made several inconsistent statements to the police. In one, he claimed he was assaulted by the police in order to get him to admit to being on the murder scene. In another, he claimed the police said they would let him go if he made an admission. But during yesterday’s cross-examination by Senior State Advocate Deon van Wyk, it became clear that his testimony was contradictory and untruthful. Therefore, the court has decided to take his initial admission of guilt into evidence.
