These old bones still have life in them
Retirement Village is inviting you for a play
Kruinpark Retirement Village’s Table-tennis Club is calling on the community to join them for a game or two. This is because of the low number of players currently utilising the facilities every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
Chairperson of the club, Johan Goosen, is calling on the community to join them for a game.
The 92-year-old partners up with his wife Helie, who is seven years his junior, for a game of table tennis, and wants to help the club survive.
“We have very few players left because our players are either too old, sick or in frail care. But we don’t want to stop playing. That’s why we’re asking those in the community to join us for a game,” he said.
Johan added that age does not matter, as long as folks are willing to play a game at the retirement village and help the club thrive once again.
Elaine Williams, who is 77 years old, has been playing for 10 years to socialise and meet new people
“I have been playing for so long, mainly because of the friendly people I meet, and everyone is welcome to join us.”
Her words were echoed by 85-year-old Sue Steyn who has been playing since she was ten years of age.
”It’s a way for us to interact socially with everyone and especially to exercise because we don’t do much of it at our age,” she said.
