Another accident occurred on the corner of General Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street, leaving one woman with light injuries and badly shaken up.
The incident occurred when a man, driving a dark blue light motor vehicle was waiting for traffic to clear at the intersection heading towards Engen service station. The driver allegedly did not see the red vehicle coming from Albertina Sisulu Road towards Pick n Pay.

The vehicles collided at the intersection. The driver of the blue vehicle claimed that the vehicles parked in the parking bays opposite Spar obstructed his view. ER24 emergency services were on scene to treat the woman in the red vehicle.
The intersection is notorious for accidents and residents have pleaded for stop signs, speed humps or traffic lights to be installed. JMPD Superintendent Wayne Minnaar was contacted about the frequency of accidents in the area.

“The Johannesburg Roads Agency should be contacted to bring engineers to the scene and let them do inspections. We as the JMPD cannot do much besides control traffic.
The inspectors can also put no-parking signs if indeed the parked vehicles are preventing others from seeing oncoming traffic,” he said.
JRA spokesperson Bertha Scheepers was unavailable for comment.
