Ronél Harris receives prestigious award
Local businesswoman wins Woman of Stature award
The winners of the various categories of the Woman of Stature: Woman of the Year awards were announced recently at a glamorous event.
Two local businesswomen – Ronél Harris and Riana Scheepers – were nominated in the Director’s Special Award category and one of them walked away with the prize.
Ronél was announced as the winner and said that she felt so many mixed emotions. “When I heard my name called, I was speechless. I felt numb, excited and overwhelmed,” she said.
Ronél said that her nomination meant a lot to her and that she felt honoured to be recognised with such a prestigious award. “There are so many worthy women who are making a daily difference in all spheres of their lives. To be chosen from among these awesome women made me feel that I have achieved what I have been working for – to make a difference,” she said.
Winning this award has offered her a platform that will open doors for her, especially to help women – as well as the younger generation – by giving them the tools to change and enhance their lives. “My dream is to inspire women to know that it is never too late and that you are never too old to go after your dreams and make them real,” she said.
She added that she will be using this platform to offer workshops to women, and sharing her story of hope and inspiration. “I want to equip them with the tools to turn their dreams into goals and create an awesome life. Ultimately, we are in charge of creating our own destiny and we can choose how we use our own story – either stay stuck and be prevented from moving forward or break free (which is also the title of her recently published book) and have an awesome life,” said Ronél.
She concluded by thanking everyone who believed in her and cheered her on. “Your support means the world to me. It inspires me to want to do more to help everyone achieve and reach their dreams,” she said.
