Officers of the JMPD High Speed Unit arrested ten motorists on Sunday, 19 February for driving at excessively high speeds in a 120km/h zone on the N1, said Metro Police spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar.
The trapping took place near the 14th Avenue on-ramp. The highest speed recorded during the operation was that of silver Ford Mustang which was caught travelling at 202km/h. All the drivers were locked up at Honeydew Police Station, and later granted bail of R1500 each.
They will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon to face charges of reckless and negligent driving.
