Raising Giants launched their annual fund-raising event recently. The fourth annual Raising Giants Amazing Race fund-raising event will be held on 16 June at Cosmo Primary 1, starting at 9am.
Raising Giants is a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Cosmo City that was started in 2008 with the aim of changing the world by making a difference in young people’s lives. Their objective is to equip these young people with the knowledge that despite their circumstances, it is up to them to make the right decisions for themselves so that they can become who they want to be.
The NGO’s event is based on the popular TV show, The Amazing Race, and will involve teams participating in activities with road blocks and detours in a race to the finish line.
Applications for teams of two have started coming in through the official website, rgoamazingrace.weebly.com. Entry costs R200 and contestants are encouraged to bring guests.
“All guests must bring sunscreen, hats, backpacks, water, camp chairs, as well as cash, as credit facilities will not be available. Entries are open to persons aged nine and older.
Child drop-off facilities will be available throughout the event for children below the age of nine. Food and drinks will also be available and entertainment in the form of up and coming DJ’s and Johannesburg-based performers will be available,” said organiser Obakeng Mogapi.
