National Toothache Day
Visit your dentist regularly to prevent toothaches on #NationalToothacheDay
National Toothache Day is annually observed on 9 February and serves as a reminder that – with the right care –toothache can be prevented.
Also known as odontalgia, a toothache is pain generating from a tooth or multiple teeth which can make you feel miserable. It also makes eating, sleeping or sometimes even talking very difficult and is generally very unpleasant.
Toothache is not really something to celebrate, but we can however, be aware of the ways to prevent it.
Routine dental care is an important first step. This includes avoiding sugary foods, acidic drinks, daily brushing and flossing. But, even with all these preventative steps, we can still develop cavities, have accidents that break or chip a tooth or find ourselves with an infection. Teeth can also become sensitive to heat or cold.
To treat a toothache in the short-term obtain an over-the-counter treatment, but visiting a dentist may still be required to resolve the issue. Some toothaches are so severe that they require emergency intervention – and that’s why treating the early signs of a mild toothache is important.
