Narrow win for Florida

Latest cricket results

Florida Cricket Club’s Promotional Team took on the Eldorado Park Ottomans cricket team this past weekend (29 January). Florida won the toss and chose to send in openers Cole Abrahams and Caleb Probert to bat. The duo quickly knocked on the runs, achieving 50 runs off the 10 overs, which did not leave the Florida dugout impressed. Cole was the first to be dismissed for 71 after notching up 25 runs off 33 balls, hitting three boundaries.

Kushdeep Nanra was next in but he didn’t stick around as he was dismissed for 11 runs off 11 balls. But this did not stop Caleb, who kept the scoreboard ticking until he was bowled out on 95 runs, just five shy of a century. The middle order continued to collapse as three more batsmen were dismissed for single digits, while Ahmad Patel made 24 runs off 42 balls. Omar Kimmie tried to keep the score going by hitting 45 runs off 41 balls, which included three boundaries and three sixes. Florida were eventually bowled out for 236 runs after 48,2 overs.

With a decent score to chase, the Ottomans made a fine job of it, inching closer to the target while having to contend with Florida’s bowling attack. Florida’s Nanra was his team’s spearhead as he took three wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs. This helped restrict the Ottomans to just 223 runs, 13 runs shy of a victory. Kimmie took two wickets for 50 runs while Ahmed Patel and Kivesh Padarath took two wickets each at a cost of 24 runs and 17 runs respectively.
