West Ridge High School has four new sheriffs in town to help keep order and discipline at the school.
Tshegofasto Motale was selected as the head girl and Yolisa Motaung is the deputy head girl. Sicelo Ntuli is the head boy and Craig O’Reilly is the deputy head boy. Tshegofatso said she was overwhelmed at being selected to hold such a high position of responsibility.
“My wish is to lead my fellow learners onto the correct path and accomplish many great things during our time together at the school,” she said.
Her sentiments were echoed by Yolisa who aims to improve conditions at the school by making sure there are no unnecessary disruptions.
“I want to motivate the learners and urge them to work harder on their studies,” she said.
Sicelo also has big plans, which he wants to become a reality before his tenure is over. These include empowering his fellow pupils so that they excel not only during their time in school but well after they have passed matric and left the school.
“We were chosen so that we could be positive examples to our fellow learners, so when I was awarded the badge, I thought about ways to improve conditions at the school,” he said.
Craig also wants to change the school in a positive manner and instil discipline, which he believes is the main reason he was selected as a head leader.
“I am positive that I was chosen because of my good disciplinary record, so I want to change the learners and school to be better,” he said.
