RHC wins league for 3rd year running

'This team has gown exponentially in character'

The Randfontein Hockey Club (RHC) has once again proved that they are the kings of hockey after winning their league for the third year running.

The RHC played in the Southern Gauteng Hockey Association’s (SGHA) 5th League during 2016, and remained unbeaten throughout.

The club was crowned champions of the league after finishing with 11 wins and one draw out of 12 league matches against the likes of Home of Hockey (HOH), Old Vaal, Mondeor Hockey Club and Cambrians Hockey Club.

In the various matches, which they played intelligently and skilfully, the club scored a total of 41 goals and only conceded two goals.

“This team has gown exponentially in character and as individual, professional sportsmen. The RHC team displayed fluent, progressive and attacking hockey and the rest speaks for itself,” said Marlo Meyer, the RHC Head Coach.

He added that the team’s hard work and dedication will lead them to triumph over their competition once again in 2017.

“[I] would also like to thank the RHC men’s team, support staff, spectators and sponsors for their hand in the team’s achievements,” he said.

Marlo is also inviting hockey players and enthusiasts to join the club to share in what he predicts will be a successful 2017 season. Training starts on Saturday, 11 February and runs from 1pm to 4pm.
